Established in 1986, Potterswork has grown from a humble seaside shop into a thriving ceramics studio, and now an expansive workshop in Cape Town, South Africa. Over the decades, the studio has built a reputation for exceptional handmade and hand-painted ceramics, crafted with skill, passion, and creativity.

At the heart of Potterswork is a talented team of 25 artisans, including fettlers, kiln specialists, mould makers, slip-casters, and painters, many of whom come from the surrounding communities. Together, they work seamlessly to bring each ceramic piece to life, ensuring that every item reflects the care and craftsmanship for which Potterswork has become known.
A defining characteristic of Potterswork is its signature abstract African aesthetic, a style that has evolved and gained international recognition. While the artists work within this distinctive design language, each piece is infused with a sense of individuality. Unless created as part of a specific order, no two designs are ever exactly alike making every Potterswork creation a unique, one of a kind treasure.
From its early days as a small shop to its present day global recognition, Potterswork continues to uphold its commitment to traditional craftsmanship, artistic expression, and community driven creativity.
