Behind the scenes

I have always loved the quiet joy of finding beautiful things. Baskets woven by hand, soft scarves to wrap up in, delicious little treats, and always a good ceramic or two. Over the years, I have stumbled across so many wonderful small makers, each with their own story gently woven into their work.

Earlier this year, after ME crept back into my world, I knew I needed to find a softer rhythm. Something that allowed me to work gently, with room to rest when needed, but still filled my days with things I love. And so, Slow Squirrel came to life.

Our kitchen table has always been at the centre of it all. Sometimes laid with pretty linens, sometimes simply bare wood marked with happy stains and stories, but always ready to welcome whoever might knock on the door. A handful of olives, a bowl of nuts, something sweet from Squirrel HQ, and always space for conversation.

Slow Squirrel is more than just lovely things. It is about finding beauty in the small details, supporting thoughtful makers, and gently building something that feels good. As a wise friend said to me not long ago, collaboration over competition. I think that is how life should be.

And why Slow Squirrel? Because life is a little sweeter when you pause, savour the moment, and share it with people you love.

Te Gather. You can choose how you would like yours presented: a traditional wicker basket, a festive red box, or my favourite, a beautiful woven basket that will live on long after Christmas as a bread basket or a catch all, for all those bits and bobs on the kitchen table. Inside, think proper foodie joy. Sides of Smokin Bros whisky and wasabi salmon. A selection of cheeses. Prospect Coffee. Becs’ Great Taste Award winning granola, along with her biscotti and parmesan shortbreads. Olives and nuts. A bottle of Honest Toil olive oil. A little Potterswork bowl or espresso cup to keep and use. The possibilities are endless. Each hamper can be tailored to suit the person you are giving to, from something small and thoughtful to a full celebration. The easiest way is simply to give us a ring and we can chat through the options together: 07747 635990 Gathering season has begun. Love Annabel and Becs
