To some this might look like an unusual photo, but to me it sums up exactly why I started Squirrel.

After living with M.E. for over 30 years, and with it coming back fiercely last year, I needed a different pace of life. Some days my energy simply is not there, with legs saying no to stairs and no to long-awaited parties (though I am determined to make it tonight!).

The beauty of Squirrel is that I can work gently, at my own rhythm. Today that means working from my bed with Tilly and Bruce for company, which is no hardship when the rain is pouring down outside. I have been happily playing with new colourways for the next batch of @potterswork goodies, and it is such fun imagining these joyful patterns on your tables and in your homes. Including new soap dishes to compliment these delicious soaps from @bohemiaandflower

I feel so grateful for every order and for the support that allows Squirrel to keep growing. Slow living, small rituals, and splashes of colour can make even the simplest days feel special. 🐿️ 🌿✨

A few days away by the water is all I need to recalibrate. Watching the waves with these two gave me the gift of time… time to reflect, to dream, and to simply be.

September is fast approaching, and as the long days of summer gently slip away, new chapters are waiting to be written. For Gus, that means setting off to board with Harry, a step he is so ready to take. I know I will miss them both more than words can say, yet there is such joy in watching them stride forward with confidence, ready to embrace all that lies ahead.

And of course, Squirrel is never far from my thoughts. Do I use this new chapter to move her up a gear, to seek out more artisans and discover fresh treasures? Or is it her gentle, slow simplicity that I love most of all? Perhaps it is a little of both. What I do know is that, just like the steady rhythm of the tide, everything will find its place.

So tell me, does September feel more like the real New Year to you, as it does to me? Fresh notebooks at the ready, a clean page waiting to be filled… what are you most looking forward to?
